2012 nominations

Finally, they are here, the 2012 Watersprite Awards nominations! Our juries, made up of industry professionals, Cambridge filmmakers, students and former Watersprite Award winners, met in London in the beginning of last week. After long, tough and sometimes heated debate, our jurors narrowed down the 8 shortlisted films in each category to 4 nominees and voted 1 winner.

Thanks to all our jurors who joined us to decide on the best of the best of our submissions. Your expertise and professionalism make the Watersprite judging process stand out in the world of student film festivals. And a great thank you as well to The Union Club and Deluxe 142 for hosting our jury sessions in Soho.

To those filmmakers shortlisted but not nominated: Get your camera, make another short and please submit again next year. Jurors were throroughly impressed by the overall quality of the shortlists and some of you were very, very close. There will be a Watersprite 2013 and we’d love to receive your next film.

To our nominees: Congratulations! You’ve made it through the judging and your film will be screened at the festival. Soon, you will receive an invitation to our exclusive Watersprite Awards ceremony where you can meet the team (we’re certainly excited to meet you!), our renowned guests and speakers from the world of film and television, and your fellow nominees, waiting together for someone to open that envelop and say the name of the right film…
