** Submissions are now closed and judging is underway.**
On this page you will find general guidelines for submission, including details on types of submission and awards options.
Please read though the following guidelines and recommendations carefully before submitting your film to Watersprite. If you still have any questions once you have read the information on this page, please contact us on submissions@watersprite.org.
The full Terms and Conditions can be found here.
General
- Watersprite accepts both online upload and DVD submissions. Whichever way you choose to submit your film, you must successfully complete the submission form on this website.
- The deadline for online submissions is 9 December 2011. DVD submissions close on 2 December 2011.
- Due to finite resources, Watersprite 2012 is limited to 250 film submissions. Once this number has been reached, submissions will automatically close – so make sure to submit your film as early as possible to enter the festival.
Online upload
- Choose the option ‘Digital file upload’ at the end of the submission form and upload your film. Make sure you have read the section ‘Recommended video settings’ further down this page. Films not adhering to these standards may be disqualified from the competition.
- Your movie file may not exceed 700 MB.
NB: you do not need to provide a screening quality copy of your film at this stage. Films will be judged online. You are, of course, welcome to submit films up to 700MB, but they will take a significant time to upload!
DVD submission
- Choose the option ‘DVD’ at the end of the submissions form. Please print the completed form but do not forget to also submit the online form.
- Send your film on a data DVD and not as a stand-alone DVD film. The latter cannot be accepted to Watersprite. The movie file on the DVD may not exceed 700 MB.
- The same recommended video settings as for online uploads apply. Films not adhering to these standards may be disqualified from the competition.
- Watersprite will not accept your posted films, if customs fees are incurred.
- Post the data DVD with your film and the print out of your online submission form to

This is a drop down list and only one option can be chosen. All films will automatically be entered into a genre award category based on this decision.
2) Two technical awards the entrant wishes to be considered for, from the following options:

- Cinematography
- Editing
- Directing
- Original screenplay
- Original score/soundtrack
- Sound editing
Entrants must choose two categories from the list above that they consider their film to excel in, in order to be considered for the award.
Please note: some genre films cannot enter certain technical awards. Documentaries cannot enter the acting or screenplay category. Animations cannot enter the acting or cinematography category.
